Training on Writing Fundable Research Proposals 2022

AFAERE announces the 2022 training workshop on Fundable Research Proposal facilitated by Professor Wisdom Akpalu and call for research proposals to support graduate students and early career researchers during proposal development. The training workshop will cover all aspects of proposal development, from selecting ideas for a fundable research topic to identifying potential funders. Wisdom Akpalu obtained a PhD in Economics from Gothenburg University, Sweden. He is currently the Dean of the School of Research and Graduate Studies at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), and Former President of the African Association of Environmental and Resources Economists (AFAERE). His research focuses on socioeconomics of natural resource management, including fisheries management, behavioral and experimental economics, economics of crime and punishment, theoretical modelling and economic institutions.

Interested workshop participants are required to develop a 10-page research proposal in any area related to environmental and resource economics. Potential topics in these areas: fisheries and energy economics, application of environmental valuation techniques, behavioral and experimental economics, wildlife conservation, forestry, water resources, climate change, agricultural and rural development, among others. The proposals will be reviewed by a panel of experts after the participants incorporate inputs from the training workshop. The review process will involve consultations with the panel of experts, and the participants will be required to present their revised proposals a week after the training.

Only fully paid AFAERE members are eligible to submit their proposals. However, the training is open to all AFAERE members and/or non-members.

The deadline for submissions of research proposals is Wednesday, 26 October 2022 at midnight, South African time. The training workshop will be on Friday, 28 October 2022 at 14h00 South African (Central African Time (CAT)) via Zoom.
